The NRI
/
Gist frontman, Nayan Bhula, created this alter persona- The NRI (Non-Resident Indian), to release some of his more acoustic stylings that didn't fit said band's post-punk rock. These demos were collected over years on a Yamaha 4 track cassette recorder (pictured above)! On a whim he put this together on a CD-R release and after some positive feedback, created a full band around this idea. So the NRI, become plural - The NRIs - and the rest is history. The demo features some very personal songs, highlighted by "Curveball" written for his high school friend, David Miller who left this plain far too early. (limited copies of CD-Rs are left and this is the only place to listen to these tunes online)
